The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are continuing to monitor Tom Pearce, despite the Leeds United left-back’s newly-signed contract.

Pearce’s previous deal was due to expire this month, which is said to have prompted interest from Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth and Palace.

And while the 20-year-old’s new agreement – which was announced on Thursday and runs until June 2022 – ensures Leeds won’t lose him on the cheap this summer, it does not guarantee the Yorkshire side won’t lose him altogether.

One thing that could work in Leeds’ favour, however, is the fact that neither Bournemouth nor Crystal Palace appear to be in urgent need of strengthening in Pearce’s position.

Bournemouth have Charlie Daniels, Brad Smith and Tyrone Mings all capable of playing there, while Palace’s options include Patrick van Aanholt, Jeffrey Schlupp and Jairo Riedewald.

Pearce was released at the age of 16 by Everton – another club previously credited with interest in the England Under-21 international – and broke into Leeds’ first team earlier this year.
