Liverpool goalkeeper confirmed to have sustained concussion in the Champions League final.

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius ended the Champions League final in tears as his dream turned into a nightmare.

He was directly at fault for two of Real Madrid’s three second half goals in Kiev.

Real won the game 3-1 and Karius faces the axe this summer at Liverpool weigh up a change in goal.

But did Karius have a legitimate excuse for his perplexing errors?

SkySports report that medical tests since the game show Karius sustained a concussion during the match.

He underwent testing in America over the past week and the results have confirmed the Reds’ doctors’ suspicions.

One possible moment he sustained the blow was early in the second half when Sergio Ramos appeared to collide with him at a set piece.

At this stage the score was 0-0, and his first error came minutes later.

The revelation will not undo Karius’ mistakes, but it could help him try and come to terms with his error a bit better and understand why it happened.

What Liverpool do with it is another matter. Do they now back Karius, or replace him anyway?

Will it be enough to save his Liverpool career? The reaction from fans is certainly very split, and not all are buying it.
