The youngster captained Celtic to Youth Cup success at Hampden Park in Glasgow last April.
The 20-year-old, though, failed to make a single first-team appearance for the Hoops, and it made sense for him to try a new adventure.
United will be aiming to win automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship next season, and Wardrop will be an important player in Csaba Laszlo’s side.
As for Celtic, Brendan Rodgers’s side will be looking to win the domestic treble for the third season in a row.
