Joe Hart is set to return to Manchester City after a disappointing loan with West Ham.

Portuguese newspaper Record claim Sporting Lisbon are interested in signing Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart this summer after a disappointing season-long loan with West Ham United.

The 31-year-old struggled to impress at West Ham after joining the club last summer, which has eventually cost the former Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper his place in England’s World Cup squad.

The two-time Premier League champion managed just 19 appearances in the league for the Hammers, conceding a whopping 39 goals and managing only four clean sheets.

The Daily Mail claim that Hart blamed former Hammers boss Moyes for his exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad, as the Scottish manager chopped and changed between Hart and Spanish stopper Adrian throughout 2017-18.

Hart has already left England in an attempt to rejuvenate his career, joining Italian top-tier outfit Torino for the entire 2015-16 campaign which saw him make 37 appearances and concede 64 goals.

The goalkeeper has a year left on his Manchester City contract and it remains to be seen if Sporting are interested in signing Hart on a permanent basis, or indeed on another loan.

Hart is said to be keen on a move away from English football, and the presence of Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas at Porto is believed to make the Liga NOS a tempting proposition.
