Sunderland manager Jack Ross wants to sign St Mirren striker Gavin Reilly in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 15:07, Saturday, May 26, 2018).

Reilly worked with Ross at St. Mirren, and the new Sunderland manager reportedly wants to bring the 25-year-old striker at the Stadium of Light this summer.

It has also been claimed that Ross wants to secure the services of 19-year-old midfielder Kyle Magennis from his former club St. Mirren this summer.

Good signing for Sunderland?

With Sunderland having been relegated from the Championship this season, the Black Cats are not going to find it easy to attract top-quality strikers to League One.

While Reilly may not be a big-name player, Ross knows the 25-year-old striker, who could be a smart signing for Sunderland, especially if he comes for a decent transfer fee.

The former Queen of the South and Heart of Midlothian striker scored 11 goals and provided three assists in the Scottish Championship for St. Mirren this past season, according to BBC Sport, helping his side to promotion to the Scottish Premiership in the process.
