Crystal Palace fought back from losing their opening seven Premier League games of last season to secure an 11th-place finish, and they will need to keep hold of their core players for next season in order to put a stop to their incessant relegation battles.

Numerous summer offers are expected for star player Wilfried Zaha, while Chelsea loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek is headed back to Stamford Bridge after his season-long loan at Selhurst Park.

However, Palace centre-back Mamadou Sakho wants the young midfielder at the club next season, and he has urged the Eagles' board to move for another loan deal.

“I would say yes. Ruben is really talented and has a lot of quality," the French defender replied when asked if he would like to have Loftus-Cheek in the squad for next season, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

“His season was a little bit difficult for him as he had a long-term injury but when he came back we saw the difference that he can make on the pitch. So yes, I think that it can be a really good deal for the club."

The 22-year-old caught the eye with his performances for Crystal Palace and successfully played his way into Gareth Southgate's 23-man England World Cup squad.

In 24 Premier League appearances, Loftus-Cheek scored twice and assisted three times, with his man-of-the-match performance against Stoke City helping to secure Palace's top-flight safety with a game to spare.

Given his brilliant campaign, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will be keen on loaning him out again, and a great World Cup will most likely see them prevent him from ever leaving Stamford Bridge.
