Rowett only left Derby County yesterday to join Stoke, but he is reportedly a big fan of Lichaj, whose future at Forest is in doubt.
The American has been one of Forest’s key players over the past campaign, but he has entered the last year of his contract.
Lichaj now has interest from a host of Championship sides, including Queens Park Rangers, while MLS teams are also keen on him.
Stoke City are also touted as a possible destination for Lichaj by the Nottingham Post, as Rowett always rated Lichaj’s performances, even when he was Derby manager.
Stoke are expected to have sizeable funds to spend this summer, which was part of the reason why Rowett left Derby to join them, and should have no problem meeting Forest’s asking price for the 29-year-old.
Forest realise that this could be their last chance to receive a sizeable fee for Lichaj, unless they are able to convince the full-back to sign a new contract in the near future.
