The long-serving Everton left-back could be granted a swift free transfer, according to the Sun newspaper.
The newspaper claim that sources close to Baines have informed them the 33-year-old will fly to California shortly to look into a move stateside.
And the report adds a deal could happen fast, with the former England international expected to okay the transfer as long as his family are happy with it.
The Sun also speculate that Everton will allow Baines to leave on a free transfer, despite him having a year left on his contract at Goodison Park.
The Toffees, who are looking for a new manager, are said to be in the market for at least one new left-back this summer, with Frank Fabra of Boca Juniors and Tom Pearce of Leeds United among those linked with moves to Merseyside.
A boyhood Everton fan, Baines returned to Goodison Park from Wigan Athletic 11 years ago.
Should Everton allow Baines to leave this summer?
