On-loan Wolverhampton Wanderers star Diogo Jota has told Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol that he is unsure whether he will be playing at Molineux next season despite the club’s promotion.

Jota, 21, starred for Wolves throughout the campaign, finishing as the club’s top goalscorer with 18 goals from the left flank as well as laying on six assists during his 46 league and cup appearances.

Spanish newspaper Marca claimed back in January that Wolves have the option to purchase 13-time Portugal Under-21 international Jota for a fee of £12.3million, but it appears that a decision is yet to be made.

Jota will have worried Wolves fans by insisting that he still “has nothing signed”, with the former Porto star surely one of the first bits of business that the Midlands club should be looking to complete.

“For the next season I still have nothing defined, I still have nothing signed,” Jota said. “I am concentrating on the selection, with a group that does not have much time to work [Portugal Under-21’s], and then I go on vacation.

“I want to stay. Everything that has happened this season leads me to believe that the next season can be good for me in the Premier League but, as I said, nothing is still signed and I can not give anything for granted.”

Despite his tender age, Jota has already got huge experience at senior level with 18 goals and 14 assists in 47 games for Pacos De Ferreira, as well as turning out 38 times for Porto in which he has scored nine goals.

But he is yet to make a senior appearance for Diego Simeone’s side after joining them in the summer of 2016. But Jota’s comments could suggest that he is waiting to see if he stands a chance of playing for Atletico.

A move to Wolves, though, seems the most likely option, ahead of the summer transfer window.
