Michael Mancienne has played 130 games for Championship giants Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest revealed their retained list last week with eight first-team players, including Chris Cohen, David Vaughan and Jack Hobbs, all leaving the City Ground.

Michael Mancienne, however, was one of those contracted beyond the summer of 2018 who, as it stands, will still be a Forest player heading into next season.

But it seems a number of fans have ran out of patience with a player who has been in the East Midlands since 2014. Mancienne, now 30 years of age, has played 130 games for the Championship giants and still appears to be part of Aitor Karanka’s plans.

Though if the Spaniard wants to rebuild an underachieving team with around 10 new players targeted, should Mancienne be one of those looking over his shoulder and worrying about his future?

It’s fair to say the former England U21 skipper, who was once tipped for big things at Chelsea, hasn’t lived up to expectations in his professional career and he could find himself slipping down the pecking order this summer.

Forest have already secured a deal to keep Tobias Figueiredo after an excellent loan spell from Sporting Lisbon, Danny Fox has been transformed into a capable centre-back and Michael Dawson is expected to make an emotional return when his Hull City contract expires, as reported by the Nottingham Post.

So should this summer be the end of the line for Mancienne?
