Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino faces an extremely busy summer transfer window ahead of him, and he will be desperate to bring in some fresh faces, as he looks to guide his side to a major trophy next season.
One particular area of concern for the Argentine will be his central defensive department, with Toby Alderweireld's future in north London far from certain.
If the Belgian does eventually leave this summer, Pochettino will, of course, have to bring in an able bodied replacement.
According to the Sun, Spurs value Alderweireld at around £50 million, and if they do manage to garner that amount for his signature, they should seriously consider a move for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, who is available for around €60 million (£52.9 million) this summer, according to Italian publication Calcio Mercato.
The 26-year-old is one of the continent's finest central defenders, and he would be the ideal summer signing for Tottenham.
Standing at 6ft 4in tall, the Senegal international is incredible strong in the air. He is quick along the ground and tenacious in the tackle, and possesses all of the physical attributes needed to be a success in the Premier League.
Koulibaly would be the ideal partner for Jan Vertonghen as part of a two, or equally he could play alongside the Belgian and Davinson Sanchez as part of a three.
Whilst £52.9 million seems like a lot of money at first glance, it would actually represent decent value in today's day and age, and if Pochettino does manage to bring Koulibaly to Tottenham, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for them.
