West Ham moved to the London Stadium as anchor tenants on a 99-year lease two years ago.
The move has not gone according to plan with supporters unhappy over what they feel are broken promises regarding the stadium.
One such issue saw fans explicitly told by vice-chairman Karren Brady that West Ham fixtures would always take priority only to see the club forced to play their first four games away from home at the beginning of the current campaign due to athletics.
The Hammers secured their top flight status for next season with a 2-0 win over Leicester City at the weekend.
And now it has been announced the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will play each other in two Major League Baseball regular season games at the London Stadium in 2019.
The matches, which will be held on June 29 and 30, will be the first MLB games to be staged in Europe.
MLB says it intends to play again in 2020 and establish "a long-term footprint in the city".
MLB matches have already been staged outside the USA in Mexico, Japan, Puerto Rico and, most recently, at Australia's Sydney Cricket Ground in March 2014.
While many West Ham fans will be pleased to see such a major sporting event come to their home ground, it did not stop the Hammers getting mercilessly abused on Twitter.

If you ever needed anymore convincing that the London stadium isn’t suitable for football, it’s the fact they are able to hold a baseball game in there.— Gary Mills ⚒ (@GaryMillsy) May 8, 2018
Baseball at the London Stadium then, the popcorn all makes sense now! #WestHam— Ian Tilbury (@Tillroll78) May 8, 2018

Baseball is a game literally no-one in britain cares about. So it is fitting a baseball game/marathon whatever they call it will be at the london stadium home to west ham. A team literally no-one cares about.— Comrade Maxwell (@1999_adam) May 8, 2018
