Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp suggested on Sunday that he may be interested in signing Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.
The French starlet has struggled to adapt to life at Camp Nou since his £95 million move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Asked in a press conference via The Daily Mail whether he was interested, the Liverpool boss said: "Is he on the market? Now I'm interested."
Inevitably, Klopp's admission of possible interest has prompted a reaction from fans of the Anfield club, and here is how they reacted to the prospect of signing the 20-year-old.
I know it's early days and probably 99% rubbish, but being linked with players such as Fekir and Dembele is refreshing..one thing for sure whoever we bring in this summer will be high quality #LFC— Terry (@Terry_LFC5) May 7, 2018
Just saying but if Klopp signed Dembele he would make him the best in the world. I have no doubt of it.— Adam Thomas (@tomokop305) May 7, 2018
#LFC I think Klopp still would love to have Dembele from Barca after missing out on him a few years back. ..or maybe he is just trolling Barca.— redxabi (@redxabi141) May 7, 2018
I am convinced that Klopp was only joking when he expressed interest about Ousmane Dembele availability in the market #LFC— s h a h r i m (@shahrimtamrin) May 6, 2018
Also @lfc please tell Klopp to get Dembele out of Barcelona. They’re wasting him— “Vic” (@lfcvic) May 6, 2018
Dembele is coming to LIVERPOOL and barca fans are crying! Hilarious— treywire33 (@treywire) May 7, 2018
Makes the first story a bit ridiculous as Dembele would cost a fortune and is pretty awful— Graham Hunt (@grahunt) May 6, 2018
Dembele comes if Salah or Mane go— Naby Keita 8 (@martinwares) May 6, 2018
If Ousmane Dembele joins Liverpool im joining Hannah Baker idc.— King Geedorah (@CertifiedKilIa) May 6, 2018
If Liverpool signed Dembele from Barca I’ll not sleep until August in excitement for new season #LFC— Dijkinho (@Dijkinho) May 6, 2018
Problem is, he went for £100m so we going to give them that again? Can’t see it
Dembele has the potential to be world class. How’s he losing this?— Dan (@Dan_Z99) May 6, 2018
Possibly signing Dembele is undoubtedly exciting, but is it realistic? Well, according to CIES Football Observatory, his value has plummeted to only £63 million, but are Barcelona likely to sell him for that? It's very unlikely.
Despite a tough first season, which includes only nine Primera Division starts, Dembele certainly has the talent to be an absolute star at some point in the future and if Liverpool genuinely want him, they'll have to cough up a lot more than £63 million - and a lot more than the £95 million that Barca paid less than 12 months ago.
