According to a report from Spanish media outlet Marca, Liverpool are interested in re-signing Pepe Reina from Napoli this summer, as Jürgen Klopp looks to strengthen his goalkeeping department.

The 35-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer, and he has already confirmed that he will be leaving the Serie A side.

Despite his advancing years, the Spaniard is still a top class goalkeeper, and it could be argued that he is better than both of the Reds’ current stoppers.

Marca claim that Klopp is a big fan of Reina, and sees him as the ideal summer addition to his squad, what with his undoubted quality and extensive experience of playing in the Premier League.

Good signing for Liverpool?

The 35-year-old has proved this season that he still has what it takes to perform at the very highest level on a consistent basis.

Reina is well-renowned for being one of the best shot-stoppers in the game, and he would surely bring a certain level of authority to Liverpool’s sometimes fragile back-line.

His availability on a free transfer makes a potential deal for the veteran an indisputably wise move for the Reds, and if Klopp manages to bring him to Anfield this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Merseyside outfit.
