Glasgow Rangers got back to winning ways, but needed a late goal to bag the three points at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard shakes hands with Dave King as he is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

There is a slightly surreal atmosphere around Ibrox right now, with Rangers fans clearly deflated when they have to think about this season but incredibly excited for what is to come next year now that it has been confirmed that Steven Gerrard will be in charge of the Gers from the summer.

In many respects, the current contrast in mood was summed up by their result against Kilmarnock on Saturday. It was not particularly emphatic and will have done little to convince Gerrard that he does not have a significant amount of work to do, but it did see Rangers win with a late goal to ensure that they keep themselves right in the hunt for second place in the Scottish Premiership.

While some players did show a reaction to last weekend’s defeat, one player, in particular, seemed to struggle again and ended up taking a lot of flak on Twitter after the contest.

Graham Dorrans has come in for a lot of criticism since returning from around five months on the sidelines. And, unfortunately for the 30-year-old, it appears that the fans were just as disappointed by his display against Killie at Ibrox.

The midfielder appeared lacklustre to many who watched the game, and his cause was not helped by Sean Goss coming off the bench to provide the cross that led to the game’s only goal with five minutes of normal time remaining.

Dorrans appeared to be an inspired signing last summer, with the Daily Record reporting that Rangers paid £750,000 for the midfielder. And while his form during the opening months of the campaign was incredibly encouraging, he has not looked the same player since returning and the fans are extremely concerned that it may be time for a ruthless decision to be taken regarding his place in the team.
