The Valencia hitman would be a wonderful addition to the Newcastle United squad.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has a lot of work to do this summer, if he is to build a squad who are capable of making a sustained push for the Europa League spots next season.

One particular area of concern for the Spaniard will be his forward department, with the addition of an established goalscorer surely featuring highly on his summer wish-list.

With this in mind, Rafa should use his Spanish connections and make a swoop for Valencia hitman Rodrigo, who has been in sensational form for his club this season.

He joined the La Liga side from Benfica in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £26.4 million according to Sky Sports, and he has since gone on to establish himself as one of the division’s most lethal hitmen.

The 27-year-old has scored 19 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for Los Che, whilst also chipping in with seven assists.

Rodrigo has many facets to his game, but excels when playing off the shoulder of the last defender, and his nouse in and around the penalty area would certainly help the Magpies improve upon the potency of their play in the final third.

The Valencia forward possesses fantastic movement, and often makes a real nuisance of himself.

He is also not afraid to mix things up physically – something that would serve him well if he moved to England, and if Rafa does in fact manage to bring Rodrigo to St James’ Park, it could tun out to be a signing of real significance for Newcastle.
