Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is ‘ready to raid’ old club West Bromwich Albion for Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez, according to the Sun.
Defender Dawson made his West Brom debut under Hodgson – and was once signed on loan by Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman at Bolton Wanderers – who also gave Rodriguez, a forward, his only England cap.
However, the report claims Palace must pay £30 million to complete the double deal, as neither player has a relegation get-out clause, unlike Baggies teammates Jonny Evans and Salomon Rondon.
Although, it adds that Dawson and Rodriguez face 40 per cent pay cuts if, as expected, West Brom fail to maintain their Premier League status.
Crystal Palace could face competition for Dawson in particular, with West Ham United, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers also keen, according to the Sun.
The 27-year-old would strenghten an Eagles defence which could be depleted by the exits of Joel Ward, Martin Kelly, Damien Delaney and Timothy Fosu-Mensah this summer, with Rodriguez potentially bolstering a forward line that has been low in numbers this season and could yet lose Bakary Sako.
