Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind is set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season after becoming surplus to requirements, according to The Times.

The 28-year-old utility man has just a year left on his current contract, and having not started a league game for the Red Devils in nine months, featuring just six times in the competition this term, manager Jose Mourinho has told him he is free to leave.

United are said to be ready to let Blind go for £15 million, so should Everton make a move for the versatile player?

The Toffees' rivals Liverpool have the equally versatile James Milner in their ranks, and Blind could turn out to be Everton's answer to the English midfielder.

Milner has been one of the major reasons why the Reds have been successful both domestically and in Europe this term, with his 11 assists coming in very handy.

The 32-year-old has featured in midfield and defence, and has been a great cover and key player due to his versatility.

Everton need such a player capable of filling in at different positions and putting in quality performances every other match, and Blind could be their man.

The Netherlands international can play at centre-back, as a left-back and defensive midfielder.

Blind is capable of providing quality cover and competition in the aforementioned positions at Goodison Park, and he brings a lot of experience to the table.

Snapping him up would be a huge bargain given the top-notch skill set he brings to the table.

Everton's £153million transfer outlay during the last summer window didn't yield much this season, and they have to be more meticulous going forward.

A deal for Blind would represent a wise move and he could be the Blues' answer to Milner.
