Wolverhampton Wanderers were linked with Dundee-owned Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain back in March, and they have now been linked with Stoke City custodian Jack Butland.

According to a report in The Scottish Sun on March 31, 2018, Wolves are interested in signing Bain on a free transfer window.

The Express has now claimed that the Wanderers, who have won automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, are planning a £35m bid for Stoke goalkeeper Butland.

Such speculation is not good for John Ruddy, as it suggests that Wolves could ditch him in the summer transfer window or make him the second choice between the posts.

The 31-year-old has played each and every minute of Wolves’ 45 Championship matches this season, but (reported) interest in Bain and Butland suggests that manager Nuno wants more competition for the goalkeeping position next season.

If Butland joins the Wanderers, then the 25-year-old England international is certainly going to be the first choice, just as he is now at Stoke.

Ruddy may be relishing the prospect of playing in the Premier League with Wolves next season, but the former Everton and Norwich City goalkeeper should be wary of the Wanderers’ summer transfer business.
