Ryan Fredericks has shone for Fulham in the Championship but could reportedly be playing Premier League football for Wolverhampton Wanderers next season.

If Fulham miss out on promotion to the Premier League for the second successive season, it would be a big surprise if Ryan Fredericks was still racing down the Craven Cottage flanks next season.

The highly-rated right-back is one of the Championship’s most in-demand players heading into the summer transfer window. West Ham United, Everton and even Arsenal have been linked while The Sun claimed on Monday that Crystal Palace have joined the race.

And The Mirror (live transfer blog, 11.09am) are now reporting that there is a new club interested in the former Tottenham Hotspur youngster – Championship title winners Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Included in the division’s Team of the Season, Fredericks has perhaps been the only right-back in the Championship this season who has overshadowed Wolves’ own Matt Doherty.

The 25-year-old, blessed with rapid pace and a reliable end product, has set up seven goals in 43 league games for Fulham this season and looks an excellent fit for Wolves on paper

So much of Wolves’ attacking threat comes down the flanks where the wing-backs are given room to roam and excellent service from the likes of Ruben Neves.

Fredericks, on paper, should have no trouble adapting to Nuno’s style and would offer some much needed competition for Doherty with 2017 signing Phil Ofosu-Ayeh still set to make his debut after spending the whole season on the sidelines.

As it stands, Fredericks will be available on a free having failed to agree a new deal at Fulham.
