Sunday’s Old Firm derby against Celtic could be Graeme Murty’s last chance to beat the Hoops as Rangers manager with his future in doubt at Ibrox – and Gers fans want him to pick Jordan Rossiter.

Rossiter, 21, has endured a nightmare spell on the sidelines since being signed by Mark Warburton from Liverpool in the summer of 2016 for a fee of £250,000 according to the Daily Record.

It has seen the combative central midfield player make just 10 appearances in two years for the Gers, the last coming against Ross County as an 81st minute substitute in August during the Gers’ 3-1 win.

However, Rossiter has been regaining his fitness with Billy Kirkwood’s Under-23 side and captained the Light Blues to a 6-0 win over Leicester City’s second string on Monday afternoon.

He managed 90 minutes against the Foxes and could now be considered for a place in Murty’s squad ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm showdown. Rangers fans certainly hope so, as they look for a better performance than last time out against Celtic.

The Gers were battered 4-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-final and have called on Murty to pick Rossiter. One fan described Rossiter as “better than [Jason] Holt and [Andy] Halliday”.
