Preston North End are reportedly set to return for Oxford United’s Ryan Ledson.

According to The Sun (21/3, p63), Preston North End are lining up a new £1million move for Oxford United midfielder Ryan Ledson this summer.

The Lilywhites could only draw 0-0 with Norwich City on Saturday afternoon, and whilst their hopes of a play-off place are still alive, North End have it all to do in the final two games of the season.

Manager Alex Neil may well have some targets in mind for this summer regardless of what division his side are playing in next season, and one name won’t surprise any Preston fans.

The Sun claim that North End are again in the market for Oxford United midfielder Ryan Ledson, having strongly pursued his signature during the January transfer window.

Roy Keane and the growing links to Celtic

It’s stated that manager Neil watched Ledson in action last week, presumably at nearby Wigan Athletic – though Ledson played just 31 minutes – and Preston will now return with a bid of around £1million.

Ledson, 20, is a former Everton youth graduate who played for England from Under-16 level all the way up to Under-20’s, and left Goodison Park in search of first-team football with Oxford in August 2016.

Ledson has hit three goals in 42 league games this season, and may be seen as a strong complement to Ben Pearson and Alan Browne in the heart of the Preston midfield next season, especially with question marks over Paul Gallagher’s future.
