Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Newcastle United target Ryan Bertrand is resigned to leaving Southampton this summer, according to a number of Saints supporters.
The Sun reported earlier this month that Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton are 'in a £25 million scramble' for Bertrand, who is facing relegation with Southampton this season.
The Saints' task is looking even harder after Thursday's 0-0 draw at Leicester City, which leaves them four points adrift of 17th-place Swansea City, who have played a game less.
And Bertrand's performance was one of particular annoyance for fans of the south coast club. Here's what they're saying on Twitter...
he will easily get a decent move in the summer so sadly he won't be fully committed— Stuart Hack (@HackStuart) 19 April 2018
He's got no incentive now. FA cup yes, but not the league. He'll be off— JAMES (@JHG1973) 19 April 2018
Another one that can’t be arsed , he’s off like a shot in summer— Steve Mitchell (@SteveMi35635385) 19 April 2018
Does anyone else think Bertrand has already left in his mind if not body - and relegation will just make things easier for him!? #SaintsFC— Richard Bennett (@RJBennett28) 19 April 2018
Did you see him laughing and joking with Vardy in the tunnel??! No focus, no desire, no passion.— Tim Foley (@salessaints) 19 April 2018
Wish we’d kept Targett. He’s quality, always rated him. There is no one pushing Bertrand for a start at LB. Targett would have been pushing for a start now #saintsfc— Martin Ferguson (@MartFergie) 19 April 2018
Would we take Danny Fox over Bertrand right now? #SaintsFC— Lemina Machine (@KelvinsKicking) 19 April 2018
Best part about getting relegated is that I’ll never have to watch Ryan Bertrand or Cedric play again. #SaintsFC— Tommy Scott (@TScottt1028) 19 April 2018
While Bertrand's recent form may have left a lot to be desired, it's not always been this way for the left-back, who was named in the Premier League's PFA team of the year in 2015.
And he could still be a useful addition for Newcastle - who may lose Chelsea loanee Kenedy on top of Massadio Haidara this summer - and Everton - who are short of competition in Leighton Baines' position - in particular.
Tottenham are perhaps least in need of the 28-year-old's services, although that could change if Danny Rose is sold this summer.
Should Southampton supporters' comments deter Tottenham / Newcastle / Everton?
