Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic reportedly want to sign Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood in the summer transfer window.

Keiren Westwood is a very good goalkeeper, and it does not come as a surprise that Leeds United and Southampton are interested in the Sheffield Wednesday star, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
What does come as a surprise, though, is that Celtic are also reported to have Westwood on their radar.
The Glasgow giants already have two very good goalkeepers on their books, and their (reported) interest in the 33-year-old does come as a major surprise.

Craig Gordon is the first-choice goalkeeper at Celtic Park, while Scott Bain, signed on loan from Dundee in the January transfer window, has done well in his absence in recent weeks.
While one can understand Celtic planning for the future, recruiting a 33-year-old goalkeeper does not make much sense for Brendan Rodgers’s side.

Gordon is 35 years of age, and the Hoops does not need another goalkeeper in his mid-30s.
Bain has done well since his loan move from Dundee and is 26 years of age, and it would be wise of the Glasgow giants to sign him on a permanent contract in the summer on a free transfer instead of bringing in Westwood from Wednesday.
