Stoke City and Liverpool supporters are reacting on Twitter to Jack Butland's performance against West Ham United on Monday.
The Stoke goalkeeper - who has been linked with a £40 million move to Liverpool this summer (Daily Mirror) - conceded a late equaliser to Hammers striker Andy Carroll, as his side were denied three important points in their quest for survival.
And while Butland - who has made the most saves of any Premier League goalkeeper - was not culpable for West Ham's goal, his latest showing left a lot to be desired in the eyes of Potters and Reds fans.
Here's what they're saying on Twitter, starting with those in the Stoke camp...
Imagine thinking that Butland is better in any way, shape or form than Pickford— Will (@IamWillSCFC) 16 April 2018
He’s actually been poor this season. Cost us points more than he has gained them.— Chris Boote (@ChrisBooteSCFC) 16 April 2018
There’s not a single leader in this team, not one cool head. Any normal team would try to slow things down. Bring on Cameron was ridiculous. Butland has cost us more than he’s saved this season. Poor form. Pickford no.1 for WC. Campbell’s finishing can’t be any worse than Dioufs.— Kaylum O'Kane (@KaylumSCFC1863) 16 April 2018
Butland should catch the cross, Cameron poor header then we drop too deep. So frustrating... and knew it was coming. Happened too often this season #scfc— Dan Hyde (@DanHyde8) April 16, 2018
Butland’s biggest fan.— Perry Smith (@PerrySmith45) April 16, 2018
But that’s fucking pathetic, why has he not made a simple catch? Let the side down tonight and that’s why Pickford will be number one in the summer.
A great effort from the players but ultimately we've done what we've been doing all season and shot ourselves in the foot. When did Jack Butland stop catching crosses? Just feeling devastated right now. #SCFC— The Oatcake Fanzine (@oatcakescfc) April 16, 2018
And this is the Liverpool view...
Karius>Butland, I wouldn’t pay £4 million for Butland never mind £40 million— John O Sullivan (@Corballyred) 16 April 2018
Butland need to up his game if he wants that move to Anfield in the summer ️♂️⚽— Duncan Oldham (@DuncanOldham) April 16, 2018
They can keep him— JC (@Jkizmet) April 16, 2018
Butland— FIGO-11 (@EliteKarius99) April 16, 2018
Butland is battling Everton's Jordan Pickford, Burnley's Tom Pope and West Ham's Joe Hart - who has also faced flack, after his involvement in Peter Crouch's goal for Stoke - to be England's number one at this summer's World Cup.
Would Butland be a good addition for Liverpool?
