West Ham have turned a corner of late with a resounding win over relegation rivals Southampton, a draw at Chelsea and then rescuing a 1-1 draw at home to Stoke last time out.
The Hammers sit 14th on 35 points knowing one more win will ensure their survival but now face a tough run in starting at Arsenal on Sunday.
West Ham were the better side for long periods against the Potters but when it came to the crunch much-criticised goalkeeper Joe Hart let them down.
Gareth Southgate watched on as Hart - man of the match against Chelsea the game before - spilled a tame shot and then failed to react quickly enough as Peter Crouch followed in to poke home.
Andy Carroll spared Hart's blushes with a late equaliser as it finished 1-1.
With Manchester City at home the following week - in which Hart can't play against his parent club - supporters feel now is the time for the Spaniard to come back into the side so he is not caught cold against the newly-crowned champions.
Fans flooded Twitter to criticise Hart, who was mocked by supporters during the game after his error.
Adrian. Jussi. Shaka Hislop. Roy Carroll. Stick any of them back in net over Joe Hart ffs— Allan Smith (@Allan22_WHU) April 16, 2018
Sorry Joe Hart is poor where is Adrian FFS 3 points tonight and we would we have been safe— sean (@Millarmob) April 16, 2018
Joe hart wtf was that is he capable of stringing a couple of decent games together?— Boleyn Blood (@BoleynBlood) April 16, 2018
Should never have signed him, he hasn’t been good apart from 1-2 games. Should’ve just stayed with Randolph and Adrian. #COYI #WHUFC
The complete lack of even medium-term vision that plagues English football can be summed up no better than West Ham continuing to persist with joe hart in goal. The man is finished and has no future at our club, so why oh why, even if Adrian is struggling, is he still playing— Robby (@Rob_S_Wilcock) April 16, 2018
Hart is finished here, I'll say it yet again. Adrian may have a few rush of blood moments, but I don't see him make the mistakes Joe Hart makes consistently— JoshWilk93 (@JoshWilky93) April 16, 2018
At least we don’t have worry about what to do with Joe Hart. Just like his World Cup chances, he’s going Bye Bye. Adrian starts next week. Hart has to have played his last game in Claret. Fernandes too, no more.— Adam Kehl (@Adam_G_Kehl) April 16, 2018
Can joe hart now unpack his bags and we can play Adrian again please, you ant going to Russia Joesph now please don’t get us relegated #WHUSTK— Bigmanvlogs (@karladams25) April 16, 2018
Football annoys me. Adrian was playing well a few weeks ago but we decide to drop him for no reason then put Joe Hart in that makes at least one error every game— Pickle (@BenMoore21) April 16, 2018
That was all round terrible from Joe Hart but the decision to go with his foot is absolutely baffling #WHUSTO— Adrian Fletcher (@AdeFletcher) April 16, 2018
Adrian is ten times fucking better than Joe Hart. How anyone can defend Hart is in denial.— Jamie⚒ (@jamiewhusteele) April 16, 2018
