Mick Quinn gives assurances over Rafael Benitez's future at Newcastle United

Rafael Benitez has performed a remarkable job at Newcastle United, with the Magpies now safe from relegation.

Mick Quinn has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT, that Rafael Benitez will reject any offers from elsewhere, to stay at Newcastle United - if the club matches his ambition.

Benitez is set for further contract talks at Newcastle at the end of the season, when he will re-assess his future.

Benitez has performed a remarkable job this season, with the Magpies now surely safe from relegation, following victory over Arsenal.

The Newcastle boss has now been linked with a move away, with plenty of other Premier League sides said to be interested.

But Quinn claims that Benitez will reject all offers to stay with Newcastle, if he is given assurances over his transfer budget.

“Let me put this to bed straight away [that Benitez could join Arsenal. He wants to stay at Newastle, he’s got a year left, and he’s had other offers," the pundit revealed. 

“If he gets the backing he will stay at Newcastle. He loves the club and the fans. I was speaking to him on Friday, actually, and he wants to see this job through and see Newcastle above Arsenal next year, possibly in the top six.

“That’s the ambition Benitez has, but it’s whether Newcastle can match that ambition. I got this from the horse’s mouth on Friday.”

Newcastle fans are desperate for Benitez to stay at St. James’ Park, as he is held in such high esteem.

The Magpies have been in superb form since January, and they have won their last four matches on the spin.

Newcastle are now in the top half of the Premier League table, and have already gone past the 40 point mark.
