Erik Sviatchenko left Parkhead on loan in January, but has still commented after Celtic reached the Scottish Cup final.

Erik Sviatchenko suggested on Twitter that he could not think of a better Sunday after Midtjylland continued their winning run while Celtic booked their place in the Scottish Cup final with an Old Firm victory.

Brendan Rodgers' men were simply dominant at Hampden Park and got their rewards as Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor scored in the first-half before Moussa Dembele and Olivier Ntcham both found the back of the net from the penalty spot during the second-half as the Hoops beat Rangers 4-0 to emphasise once again just how big the gap between the two actually is.

And after the game, Sviatchenko - who was arguably Celtic's best player when the Gers surprised the Bhoys in the same round of the same competition two years ago - took to social media to celebrate his parent club's victory.

The 26-year-old was rarely used by Rodgers this season and it surprised few when he left Parkhead in January, but it is fair to say that he has enjoyed a superb loan spell back in his native Denmark.

It remains to be seen whether Rodgers has any plans to reintroduce Sviatchenko back into the fold in the summer, but the defender is returning to compete in an area of the pitch where the Hoops look vulnerable.

Kristoffer Ajer may have not had his best game on Sunday, but he has arguably been Celtic's best performer at the heart of the defence, with the likes of Dedryck Boyata and Jozo Simunovic seriously struggling for form throughout the campaign.

And that may be why a number of Celtic fans responded to Sviatchenko's tweet by suggesting that he needs to come back to the club in the summer.
