The Inter Milan ace has reportedly been attracting attention from Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will surely be desperate to bolster his ranks in the summer, with his team appearing to be on the crest of achieving something very special indeed.

One particular area where the Argentine will want to strengthen is his central midfield department, with Mousa Dembele set to turn 31 in July, and the signing of a long-term replacement for the Belgian will be of paramount importance for the Lilywhites.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Spurs were interested in signing Inter Milan ace Marcelo Brozovic in January, and the same media outlet claim that the Italians are willing to sell the Croatia international for just €20 million (£17.4 million) in the summer.

Whilst that figure would represent excellent value for Tottenham, is the 25-year-old the player they need?

Brozovic is a cool and composed midfield operator, but he cannot in any way be compared to Dembele.

He is more attack-minded than the Spurs man and is nowhere near as tenacious.

The Inter ace possesses the ability to dictate the tempo of a game, what with his wonderful range of passing, and his educated football brain.

Brozovic is a cultured operator, someone more in the mould of Luka Modric than Dembele, and whilst he is a talented footballer, Tottenham should be focusing their summer recruitment on players with different attributes to those possessed by the Croatian.

Harry Winks’ development at Spurs would also surely be affected, if the Inter midfielder moved to north London.

Brozovic is a classy player, but one who Tottenham do not need at the moment.
