Tottenham’s Harry Kane is attempting to catch Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane hoped momentum was back on his side in his bid to win the Golden Boot.

Mohamed Salah is five goals ahead but an injury kept him out of the weekend’s Merseyside derby, while Kane made a swift return from his own injury problem.

Kane started for Spurs against relegation strugglers Stoke City, and did not manage to make any inroads to catching Salah.

For a moment it appeared as though he had done.

Kane was briefly awarded Tottenham’s second goal in their 2-1 win, but the winner was later credited to Christian Eriksen with it decreed not to have touched the striker.

This did not sit well with Kane, who has been fighting to get the goal credited back to him, so far without success.

Salah has such a strong lead that Kane understandably feels he needs all the help he can get.

If he genuinely feels he has been wronged, then it makes sense he will be fighting for the goal to be awarded to him.

His actions though caused amusement for Liverpool fans, who accused him of being ‘desperate’, and putting himself before the team.

This one could go right down to the ‘dubious goals committee’…
