Max Meyer is one of the best young midfielders in Europe, and there is no surprise that Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool all have been linked with the Schalke star.
According to The Sun, Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Meyer in the summer transfer window.
Schalke director Christian Heidel has revealed that the Germany international will leave the club in the summer transfer window after his current contract runs out at the end of the season.
The Sun quotes Heidel as saying: "At the moment we can and must expect that Max leaves the club in the summer.
"Everything suggests that. There is no offer from us and no wish from Max to have a conversation again.”
Given that Meyer is less than 24 years of age, the club who sign him in the summer transfer window will have to pay Schalke a compensation fee, which is not going to be huge - and Tottenham should take advantage of this situation and make a move.
Meyer is a very talented and promising young midfielder who has been playing regularly for the Schalke first team for a fair few years now.
The youngster has experience of playing in Europe as well, and signing Meyer on a relatively small compensation package would be a great deal for Tottenham.
While Spurs are not exactly in need of a midfielder at the moment, a player of Meyer’s quality and versatility can only enhance the North London outfit’s quality and help them move closer to challenging for the Premier League title.
