Arsenal, Liverpool and Southampton are all reportedly keen on signing the Bayer Leverkusen youngster.

According to a report from the Sun, Arsenal are leading their Premier League rivals Liverpool and Southampton in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz.

The 18-year-old is an attacking midfielder by trade, and is most comfortable when operating in the number 10 role. His style is similar to Mesut Ozil’s, and he has displayed his undoubted talent on a consistent basis so far this season, chipping in with three goals and seven assists in 28 games for Leverkusen.

The Sun claim that the Gunners are leading the Reds and the Saints in the race to sign Havertz, after sending scouts to watch him in action for Germany’s under-19’s last week.

A left-footer, Havertz possesses impeccable technical ability, and plays with a certain kind of culture that defies his tender years.

He is still under contract with Leverkusen until the summer of 2022, and is valued at £15.8 million, according to Transfer Markt.

That would represent excellent value in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, and there will surely be a serious scrap for the German’s signature this summer, with so many club’s keeping tabs on him.
