The Freiburg defender is a reported transfer target for Arsenal.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Arsenal are weighing up a £30 million bid for Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu in the summer.

The Gunners head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is reportedly a keen admirer of the Turkey international.

Arsenal are in desperate need of an injection of youth in the central defensive department, with Per Mertesacker set to retire at the end of the season, and Laurent Koscielny just six months away from turning 33.

Soyuncu, 21, is relatively experienced, having made 90 career appearances already.

Standing at just under 6ft 2in, the Turk is strong in the air, as well as being quick along the ground. He is also competent with the football at his feet – a prerequisite for any Arsene Wenger signing.

The Daily Mail claim that key Arsenal officials have discussed the pros and cons of bringing Soyuncu to the Emirates in the summer, with Sven Mislintat speaking highly of the 21-year-old.

Whilst £30 million seems like a lot of money on the face of it, in today’s day and age, it actually represents decent value, and it could turn out to be an absolute coup for the Gunners, if the young Turk goes on to fulfil his undeniable potential.
