Leeds United’s interest in the player stretches all the way back to 2016, while Everton are said to have ‘knocked’ in the winter.
Leeds United are showing interest in Hannover 96 midfielder Marvin Bakalorz, reports the German website Fussball Transfers.
Bakalorz, who Bild linked with a move to Elland Road in 2016, has appeared 22 times in this season’s Bundesliga.
However, the 28-year-old has only started two of Hannover’s last nine top flight fixtures – and ‘abroad calls’, according to Fussball Transfers.
The report claims Everton and Galatasaray enquired during the winter transfer window, but adds that Leeds, specifically, want to bring Bakalorz to England a year before his contract expires in 2019.
According to Fussball Transfers, Hannover would consider offers of around €8 million (£7 million) for the former Borussia Dortmund player.
Would Bakalorz fit within Leeds’ modest wage structure?
Managing director Angus Kinnear told the BBC Radio Leeds in January that spending large amounts on transfer fees would not be an issue for United, as long as they are getting value for money.
However, Leeds’ modest wage structure – which is speculated to have a £15,000-a-week ceiling – could restrict the signing of such costly recruits.
