Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal could seemingly be about to go head to head over Burnley defender Ben Mee.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (25th March 2018; page 63), Tottenham and Arsenal could both weigh up moves for Burnley defender Ben Mee this summer as they both look to bolster their centre-back options.

Mee is just one of the many players under Sean Dyche’s wing who have impressed enormously this season, helping the Clarets put themselves in the driving seat to potentially snatch seventh place in the Premier League despite losing two of their most important players in the summer.

The Sun on Sunday reports that Mee may be the latest key man to potentially jump ship in the summer as he approaches the final year of his contract at Turf Moor and talks over an extension have stalled.

The Sun on Sunday adds that Spurs and the Gunners could be weighing up a potential move for the 28-year-old at the end of the campaign – but they could have to pay £20 million to make a deal happen, according to the report.

Tottenham right for Mee?

If Tottenham do end up making a move for Mee, it may not be a surprise if some of their supporters were somewhat underwhelmed as a lot of his work tends to go under the radar.

The former Manchester City trainee has made 28 Premier League appearances this season and has been very impressive, and that consistency should appeal to Mauricio Pochettino as he continues to develop his squad to battle on four fronts.

Despite Mee catching the eye however, it would perhaps be a surprise if Daniel Levy was willing to go anywhere near Burnley’s current asking price with the centre-back almost into the last year of his contract and perhaps unlikely to make massive strides of improvement at this stage of his career.
