Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning a move for West Bromwich Albion's Jonny Evans.

West Bromwich Albion Football Club player Jonny Evans attends a press conference in Hong Kong on July 18, 2017, ahead of the 2017 Premier League Asia Trophy being played on July 19 and 22.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are considering joining the race to sign West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans for just £3million this summer.

Evans, 30, has proven himself as one of the best centre backs in the Premier League since his 2015 move to West Brom from Manchester United, making more than 80 Premier League appearances for the Baggies.

The Northern Ireland international is on the verge of relegation this season though, as West Brom sit bottom of the Premier League table under Alan Pardew, and look set for the Championship given that they're ten points adrift of safety.

That's a major concern for the Baggies over Evans' future, as he has a £3million release clause in his contract upon relegation, and Tottenham are allegedly set to become the latest team to pursue such a bargain deal.

Alderweireld replacement?

Tottenham have their own concerns at centre back right now, as Belgian international Toby Alderweireld could be on his way out of the club this summer given that Spurs aren't handing him a new contract.

Spurs can expect to cash in a huge fee for Alderweireld, but given that Mauricio Pochettino also has Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen at his disposal, he may not want to spend big on another centre back.

Evans is the perfect target then, as he would be available for a paltry £3million, whilst he also possesses major Premier League experience and wouldn't necessarily impede the development of Sanchez.

Arsenal and Manchester City have been strongly linked with Evans over the last year, but Spurs could now join the race – and he may be viewed as a budget replacement for Alderweireld as Tottenham plan for the worst this summer.
