Dedryck Boyata has only one year remaining on his contract at Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic and may jump at the chance to return to England.

Dedryck Boyata is facing an uncertain future at Celtic.
The Belgian international’s contract is due to expire in the summer of 2019 and, so far, there has been no movement on an extension. Considering just how many mistakes Boyata has made in the last few months, that might come as a relief to some sections of the Celtic support.
And it seems that the former Manchester City defender is not fretting about his future – and has even opened the door to a potential return to England.

“I like Celtic, but I am in no hurry to extend my contract”, Boyata, who played 13 Premier League games for City between 2009 and 2015, told Het Nieuwsblad (22nd March, page 7)
“When City sold me to Celtic, I always said that a return to the Premier League is a possibility.”
Celtic have seen a large number of their first-team players move south of the border in recent seasons, Gary Hooper, Ki Sung-Yeung and Joe Ledley to name but a few.

But there has been no reported interest yet from any of England’s top tier sides in a defender who was called up as part of Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad for the upcoming international break.
And, in truth, it would be a surprise if Boyata, on current form, was handed the opportunity to have a second crack at the Premier League.
