With the international break currently ongoing, West Ham United decided to use their break in order to play a friendly against Dagenham and Redbridge, defeating the non-league side 3-1.

Conference side Dagenham are in a dire financial situation right now, and West Ham made the short trip to help the Daggers, staging something of a fundraiser for them.

The Hammers took a strong side to the Chigwell Construction Stadium, with the likes of Pablo Zabaleta, James Collins, Mark Noble, Arthur Masuaku and Michail Antonio all featuring from the start.

Antonio broke the deadlock in the first half before adding a second just short of the hour mark, and Mason Bloomfield pulled one back for Dagenham before Jordan Hugill rounded off the scoring for West Ham.

Striker Hugill bagged his first goal in a West Ham shirt following his deadline day move from Preston North End, having only played 12 minutes of Premier League action.

The physical striker started and scored against Dagenham, but fans still aren’t convinced about David Moyes’ recent signing after a questionable performance against the non-league side.

Some fans took to Twitter to suggest that Hugill was ‘underwhelming’ and accused him of squandering chances to score, urging him to improve his finishing.

Others don’t think Hugill did anywhere near enough to put himself in contention for a start against Southampton this weekend, with a place on the bench seeming much more likely.
