According to TEAMtalk, Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis wants to reunite with West Bromwich Albion star Chris Brunt this summer, handing him a return to the Riverside Stadium.

Boro have been in fine form since appointing Pulis as Garry Monk's replacement in December, and the Welshman could yet guide the club into the Championship play-offs.

Whether Boro go up or not though, Pulis will be looking for reinforcements this summer, and he appears to have identified one of his former players as a key target.

It's claimed that Pulis not only wants to bring in Craig Dawson, but also his West Brom teammate Chris Brunt, who would have been out of contract this summer but triggered a one-year extensio nto his deal when he faced Bournemouth on Saturday.

Shock Middlesbrough return

It's no great surprise that Pulis would want to work with one of his former players again, but a move to Boro would be interesting for Brunt given that he started his career there.

The Northern Ireland international joined Boro back in 2001 before heading to Sheffield Wednesday three years later, and Pulis could now hand him a return to Teesside this summer.

Brunt, 33, has hit 46 goals in 367 games for West Brom since signing from Wednesday in 2007, and may well be tempted to reunite with a manager who used him so regularly at The Hawthorns.

Capable of playing at left back or on the left of midfield, Brunt would add quality on the ball to the Boro side as well as valuable experience – and that would be important no matter what division Boro are in next season.
