Leeds United have been linked with a move for Heart of Midlothian midfielder Harry Cochrane in the summer transfer window, and so have Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Scottish Sun claimed last month that Championship club Leeds and Premier League side Brighton are looking at the prospect of signing Cochrane from Hearts in the summer of 2018.

The 16-year-old is one of the best young midfielders in Scotland and has been in good form for Hearts so far this season.

The midfielder has scored one goal and provided one assist in 16 Scottish Premiership appearances for Craig Levein’s side so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Hearts, though, seem to have hatched a plan to keep Cochrane at Tynecastle Park. According to The Scottish Sun, the Scottish Premiership club want to extend the midfielder’s current contract which runs until 2020.

It has been reported that the Edinburgh-based club could add another six months to the teenager’s deal, and that an agreement is close to being reached.

Leeds, though, should not be worried too much. A new contract will only mean that the West Yorkshire outfit will have to pay a little extra for the youngster in the summer transfer window; if they are keen on him, then they should be able to sign him.
