Southampton booked their place in the last four of the FA Cup as they avoided a giant-killing.

Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to react to Guido Carrillo’s performance during the Saints’ FA Cup quarter-final tie with Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium on Sunday.
Carrillo has endured a miserable start to his Saints career after becoming their one marquee signing during the January transfer window. He was still awaiting his first goal heading into the Wigan clash which provided the Argentinian with his ninth appearance since his switch.

And unfortunately for Carrillo, and somewhat predictably as far as the fans were concerned, he did not manage to end his wait for that elusive first goal – though the Premier League strugglers were given something to smile about after an extremely difficult time.
Mark Hughes led his side to a victory in his first game in charge to ensure that Southampton booked their semi-final spot in the cup and took some confidence heading into the final stages of the season when they will be looking to get themselves out of the relegation zone in the Premier League.

The Saints fans will certainly be hoping that Carrillo proves to be one of the players who benefits most from Hughes’ appointment at St Mary’s as it currently appears that he is never going to score for the club.
The supporters are already starting to run out of patience with the 26-year-old, and one fan even suggested that he did not even remember that the striker was still on the pitch when he was substituted for Shane Long in the final 10 minutes.
Here is the best of the reaction to Carrillo’s display…
