The Birmingham City manager signed Hernandez for Leeds United in 2016.

Former Leeds United manager Garry Monk wants to reunite with Pablo Hernandez at Birmingham City, according to the Sunday Mirror [March 18th, page 65].
Monk also managed the Spanish winger at Swansea City before taking him to Leeds two summers ago.
Hernandez has been one of Leeds’ standout performers this season, contributing directly to 12 goals in 34 Championship appearances.

However, the 32-year-old’s contract is due to expire this summer, which would allow Birmingham and others to approach him over a free transfer – and could leave Leeds powerless to keep him.
Hernandez recently expressed an interest to remain at Leeds, while his partner has also suggested that the family are happy to remain put.

And while a reunion with Monk and his long-term coaching staff at Birmingham could appeal to Hernandez, much is likely to hinge on the Blues’ Championship survival this season.
Birmingham – who remain in the relegation places despite Saturday’s win against Hull City – invested heavily in new players last summer, may have to rein in their spending this time around regardless.
