Brentford’s Chris Mepham is in Burnley’s sights, according to the Sunday Mirror [March 18th, page 65].

The centre-back has impressed since making his first team breakthrough earlier this season, and won his maiden call up to Wales’ senior squad last week.

Bournemouth are said to have offered £5.5 million for Mepham in January [Sky Sports], and the Sunday Mirror’s report also credits the Cherries with interest in the 20-year-old.

Burnley have survived the campaign with only three recognised central defenders after Michael Keane’s transfer to Everton, but would be wise to strengthen in that department during the summer transfer window.

Friends reunited?

James Tarkowski of Burnley runs with the ball away from Tom Davies of Everton during the Premier League match between Burnley and Everton at Turf Moor on March 3, 2018 in Burnley, England.

Incidentally, one of those players, James Tarkowski, was signed from Brentford in January 2016.

However, Burnley may have to splash out if they wish to reunite the pair, with Mepham having signed a new five-year deal only last year.

Mepham’s new international teammate, Sam Vokes is a regular in Burnley’s side.

Can Brentford keep hold of Mepham? And would Burnley or Bournemouth be the better destination for him if not?
