West Ham United are reportedly looking to recruit a director of football as tensions between fans and owners reach breaking point.

West Ham are a club in crisis on and off the pitch.
David Moyes’ side have been sucked right into the thick of the relegation battle and face a daunting task to stay up with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester City and Everton to play in the run-in.
Tensions between fans and the co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold and their vice-chairman Karren Brady are at an all-time low with protests spilling onto the pitch during the 3-0 home defeat to Burnley last time out in scenes that shocked the wider football world.
Recruitment, ambition, transfer spending and the ill-fated move to the former Olympic Stadium from their beloved Boleyn Ground are among supporters’ big grievances.

Speculation had linked former West Ham player and manager Harry Redknapp with a return to the club in the new role.
But well-placed West Ham Twitter source EXWHUEmployee claims the club has rejected interest from Redknapp and is looking elsewhere.

Now Hammers legend Frank McAvennie has put forward his suggestion for the role, old strike partner Tony Cottee.
“I like the idea of West Ham United people who only want the best for the club (for the role) and it’ll be more than just a job!,” McAvennie said on Twitter.
“Tony Cottee for me.”
