Reports in France have claimed Everton target Edinson Cavani is considering a move away from Paris Saint Germain this summer.

Everton will be looking to boost their forward line in the summer after their transfer window failings in the striker department contributed to an underwhelming season.

The Toffees have endured a topsy turvy season with Ronald Koeman axed and Sam Allardyce appointed his replacement after a long running saga to find a successor.

Now sitting comfortably in midtable but with little other than pride to play for in the remaining eight games, the Toffees have time to take stock and identify where things went wrong in what was expected to be an exciting season.

Much of the blame has been placed on the club’s failure to bolster their forward line sufficiently after the departure of Romelu Lukaku.

Oumar Niasse came in from the cold with some crucial goals but big money signing Cenk Tosun has been hit and miss so far after arriving in January.

While midtable mediocrity is not what Everton fans were hoping for this season, it does give the club the distinct advantage of planning ahead in terms of recruitment for next season.

And they could reignite their interest in world star Edinson Cavani after being linked with a move for the Uruguayan in January, as reported by The Daily Mail.

Cavani is exactly the sort of signing Everton must look to make if they are to achieve their aims of reaching the next level and challenging for the Champions League spots in the Premier League.

Now according to a report from Le Parisien Cavani is mulling over leaving PSG this summer in search of a new challenge.

Le Parisien claims Cavani’s much publicised bust up and frosty relationship with Brazil star Neymar, the growing “Brazilian clan” at the club and the general “atmosphere at the Camp des Loges” are pushing the forward towards the exit door.

And Toffees chief Farhad Moshiri could well be waiting behind that door in a bid to persuade him a move to Merseyside and the Premier League is the right step for his career.

Moshiri would undoubtedly have to splash out a club record fee to land such a top level player but not only would it help Everton on the pitch, it would also increase their profile across Europe when it comes to landing other big name targets.
