HITC Sport understands Northern Ireland international Ryan McGivern is set for Swindon move.
Northern Ireland international Ryan McGivern is set to join Swindon Town on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
New Swindon boss Phil Brown has moved quickly to swoop for the out of contract defender to make him his first signing at the County Ground.
The 28-year-old is a free agent after leaving Northampton Town in January following a short spell at Sixfields.
McGivern made three appearances for Northampton during his time at the club, but moved on when his contract expired in January.
McGivern, who has won 24 caps for Northern Ireland is believed to have turned down a number of other offers over the last few weeks, from League Two and abroad, but has now agreed terms with the promotion-chasing Robins on a deal until the end of the season.
McGivern will add versatility to Brown's squad as he can play at left-back and centre-back as Brown looks to lift his side into play-off contention before the end of the season.
Swindon are ninth in League Two - two places outside the play-off places - with 10 games remaining.
Former Manchester City youngster McGivern is expected to go straight into the Swindon squad for this weekend's clash with Cambridge United.
