Tottenham Hotspur are said to be looking at Tah as a potential replacement for Toby Alderweireld.
Tottenham Hotspur have identified Jonathan Tah as a potential replacement for Toby Alderweireld, according to the Sunday Mirror.
Alderweireld has failed to agree a new contract with Tottenham amid reports he is demanding £150,000 a week to extend his stay in north London.
And it is claimed Spurs are ready to make a £35 million move for Tah should the Belgian depart.
Despite being seven years younger than Alderweireld at 22, Tah has already established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s top defenders after trading Hamburg for Bayer Leverkusen three years ago.
And he is so highly rated by Leverkusen that they tied him to a new five-year deal as recently as last week.
It is perhaps no surprise then, that many – but not all – Tottenham fans would welcome the Germany star’s arrival at White Hart Lane next season.

Looked very good when we played them, real physical specimen and seemed a smart defender and skilful footballer too. Seems to fit our profile of signing very well.— ChrismanSpurs (@ChrismanSpurs) 4 March 2018
Pay Toby the money & buy this kid … We need the numbers if we want to challenge! @SpursOfficial will make enough out of the fans by charging silly money got season tickets & with the TV revenue I do not see the problem offering proven quality proper wages!— Mr P™ (@Mr_P_Official) 4 March 2018
Very good player – If we could get him & Frankie de Jong from Ajax I’d accept Toby going. We’ll end up with some Levy style budget replacement & Toby will win the league at his new club— Leon (@Midgets111) 4 March 2018
would be a good man to take Toby’s place should he choose to leave— Jaskaran (@WhiteHartKxne) 4 March 2018
Yes please! Was really big on wanting him these past two summers. Too bad he just signed a contract extension last Saturday. Don’t see any move, except for stupid money, in light of this.— Timothy Alexander (@Timmah621) 4 March 2018
Would love Leon Bailey as well— ItzMeDarren (@ItzMeDarren) 4 March 2018
Tah is not as good as Toby but would be the best possible player we could get to replace him so rumours make sense but of course I’d rather have Toby— Addicted To Spurs (@addicted_spurs) 5 March 2018
tah but no tah— KJ⭐️ (@KevinHud77) 4 March 2018
Tell Poch to get jemerson instead of tah— tottenham (@kevinflocka) 5 March 2018
How about just keeping Toby— Salman Adam (@salmanadam83) 4 March 2018
Tottenham have previous with Leverkusen, the club from which they signed Son Heung-min in the same summer as Tah arrived at the BayArena.
Is Tah a good replacement for Alderweireld?
