Tottenham Hotspur are said to be looking at Tah as a potential replacement for Toby Alderweireld.

Tottenham Hotspur have identified Jonathan Tah as a potential replacement for Toby Alderweireld, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Alderweireld has failed to agree a new contract with Tottenham amid reports he is demanding £150,000 a week to extend his stay in north London.

And it is claimed Spurs are ready to make a £35 million move for Tah should the Belgian depart.

Despite being seven years younger than Alderweireld at 22, Tah has already established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s top defenders after trading Hamburg for Bayer Leverkusen three years ago.

And he is so highly rated by Leverkusen that they tied him to a new five-year deal as recently as last week.

It is perhaps no surprise then, that many – but not all – Tottenham fans would welcome the Germany star’s arrival at White Hart Lane next season.

Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter…

Tottenham have previous with Leverkusen, the club from which they signed Son Heung-min in the same summer as Tah arrived at the BayArena.

Is Tah a good replacement for Alderweireld?
