The Telegraph report that Championship clubs have begun to raise queries with the Football League over Wolves’ transfer activity.

The concerns are connected with agent Jorge Mendes, with Championship teams seeking assurances that there is no third party ownership involved with his clients, and that Wolves are sole owners of the players they have acquired.

Mendes clients Ruben Neves and Ivan Cavaleiro have played key roles in firing Wolves to the top of the Championship.

The Telegraph’s report claims one team is writing to the Football League calling for an official inquiry, and names three clubs who have ‘voiced concerns’.

These are named as Leeds, Aston Villa and Derby County.

The report reads: “Leeds United, Aston Villa and Derby County are thought to be three of the teams who have voiced dissatisfaction in the past to the Football League.”

Leeds United host Wolves this week, where they will be attempting to reverse the 4-1 hammering they received by the league leaders earlier this season.

Wolves then take on Aston Villa this weekend. Villa are in third place and still in with a shout of automatic promotion.

The Telegraph report Wolves’ stance is that Mendes is merely an advisor and there is no wrongdoing, while the Football League have previously indicated they have no concerns over his involvement.
