Premier League duo Spurs and West Ham should maybe think twice about signing Andre Gomes from Barcelona on Sunday’s evidence.

The noise from the Camp Nou stands when Andre Gomes replaced the injured Andres Iniesta ten minutes before half-time in Barcelona’s potential La Liga title decider against Atletico Madrid on Sunday spoke volumes.
The Portuguese international has struggled badly at Barca since his £31 million move from Valencia in the summer of 2016 – and was introduced to a not insignificant smattering of boos from the home support, and not for the first time either.
Gomes has always looked like a misfit at the Camp Nou, slowing down attacks and his comparative lack of technique making him something of an ugly duckling next to the sleek swans of Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and now Philippe Coutinho.

While some Barca fans clearly tried to get behind Gomes, offering an encouraging cheer when he received the ball, this was more a response to the criticism from the stands rather than the Portuguese international’s performance. Though Barca edged a crucial 1-0 win, Gomes was poor once again.
On Sunday’s evidence fans of both Tottenham and West Ham will be wondering why their sides are so keen to renew their interest in the former Valencia dynamo, having failed to lure him to the Premier League last summer.
Per AS, the London rivals are both interested in Gomes, who would still cost a substantial fee with Barca aiming to recoup their investment, but the fact he is being booed by his own supporters speaks volumes about the quality of his performances.
One hell of a red flag.
