Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Schalke’s Max Meyer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Atletico Madrid have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Schalke playmaker Max Meyer, with both teams scouting him this weekend.
Schalke took on Hertha Berlin at the Veltins Arena on Saturday afternoon, and claimed a 1-0 home victory thanks to a winning goal from Juventus loanee Marko Pjaca.
However, teammate Meyer was the focus of attention for a number of clubs, as it’s claimed that Atletico Madrid joined Arsenal, Barcelona and Tottenham in scouting the playmaker on Saturday.

Meyer, 22, played 89 minutes before being substituted for Yevhen Konoplyanka, and may have hoped to impress scouts as his contract nears its end.
A potential bargain?
Meyer has come up through the ranks with Schalke having moved from MSV Duisburg as a teenager back in 2009, racking up nearly 200 appearances for the Bundesliga side.

The four-cap German international was once touted for stardom, but has somewhat frustrated of late, notching just two goals and two assists in the whole of last season, and one goals and no assists this term.
Still, clubs appear to be attracted by Meyer’s talent and potential, as well as the fact that he could be a bargain given that his contract will expire this summer.
Tottenham scouting Meyer again on Saturday amid reports of strong interest may mean that Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino are eyeing up a bargain move, but rival interest means a battle could ensue this summer as Meyer refuses to stay in Gelsenkirchen.
